Memory Cave is Atlanta, GA multi-instrumentalist Ryan Rulon with various collaborators and live musicians. Rulon is known for his eclectic, loop-station based, live performances where one may as likely hear thoughtful, reworkings of Prince classics or dreamy reimaginings of Outkast deep cuts, hemmed in oddly congruously with Rulon's future R&B meets nostalgic, new-wavey, dreampop originals. Ryan had been performing solo nationwide, from a recent showcase at SXSW, to his hometown Atlanta's Smith's Olde Bar, to Arlene's in NYC and Hollywood, CA's Cabana Club...with shows in most states in between. "Souvenirs", his 2014 solo single, was released on iTunes and received regular play on Atlanta's WRAS Album 88.5. Having worked on that track with long-time friend, collaborator, and Grammy winning engineer and producer Jason Kinglsand (Kaiser Chiefs, Washed Out, Youth Lagoon, Band Of Horses, Belle and Sebastian) the two began working on Rulon's songs under the handle Memory Cave in 2016, tapping local synth and programming wiz and Culture, Culture keyboardist, Zach Pyles, to assist in fleshing out their lush, ethereal, alternative R&B motif. Eschewing a more modern plug-in based production approach, Rulon and company opted to employ an array of vintage analog synths, live drums, and delicately placed guitars, the results of which would not be out of place in playlists of fans of Kingsland's production credits, but also weave a ghostly-nostalgic and sinuous trail through the lexicon of 80's R&B and 90's guitar shoegaze that informed them.
